    Daytime Reader's Group

    Thursday, May 19 @ 1PM
    Kimberly Public Library

We will be discussing The Widower's Tale by Julia Glass. Seventy-year-old Percy Darling is settling happily into retirement: reading novels, watching old movies, and swimming naked in his pond. But his routines are disrupted when he is persuaded to let a locally beloved preschool take over his barn. As Percy sees his rural refuge overrun by children, parents, and teachers, he must reexamine the solitary life he has made in the three decades since the sudden death of his wife.

    Evening Reader's Group

    Monday, May 21 @ 6:30PM
    Little Chute Public Library

We will be discussing Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford. Henry Lee is a 12-year-old Chinese boy who falls in love with Keiko Okabe, as 12-year-old Japanese girl, while they are scholarship students at a prestigious private school in World War II Seattle. Henry hides the relationship from his parents, who would disown him if they knew he had a Japanese friend. This is an old-fashioned historical novel that alternates between the early 1940s and 1984, after Henry's wife Ethel has died of cancer. Join us for what should be a wonderful discussion!

    Volunteers Needed

We are in need of some faithful volunteers to help with shelving at the library on Wednesdays in Kimberly, Thursdays in Little Chute, and Friday in both locations. Can you help us out? Here's more info on volunteering at the library.

Kimberly-Little Chute Public Library Plan: 2011-2015

In January of this year, the library started a 7-month planning process to evaluate current programs and services, complete a community analysis, and develop a plan of service to guide the activities of the library over the next 5 years. You can read a summary of the plan (9 pages) or the complete plan (56 pages) which includes survey results, focus group notes, interview notes, and a number of other appendices.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this process! Your input was invaluable, and we now have a good plan in place to guide the future of the library.

    Centennial Memory Project

In celebration of the Village of Kimberly's Centennial year, the Library is posting historical photographs and video interviews of Kimberly residents on our Centennial Memory Project blog. Check it out!

Thank you to library volunteer, Alexis Ludewig, for compiling an index for Jason Weber's book, Kimberly: A Centennial History 1910-2010. Take a look at the index and print your copy.

    booksGot Books?

The Kimberly-Little Chute Public Library does, and they’re priced just right for you! Come on in and check out some great deals on used books in our ongoing book sale. Adult books, including fiction, nonfiction, biographies, and large print, are all priced at a very affordable $1.00 each. We also have plenty of paperbacks and older children’s books priced at $.50 each. All proceeds from the book sale go to the Friends of the Kimberly-Little Chute Public Library (FOLKS). The Friends then help fund programming, collections, and other special needs for the library.

Both library locations have an ongoing book sale, so you can stop by any time. The book sales are filled with materials removed from the library collection or from donations from community residents, so the content changes quite often. Consider recycling your reads and donating them to the library for the book sale! We welcome your donations, but do not accept encyclopedias, textbooks, or magazines. Your support, either in purchasing books or donating them for the sale, would be most welcome.

    Email Notices

Keep your e-mail address current with the library in order to receive notices that your requests have arrived, get courtesy notices the day before an item is due, and overdue notices if your items are late (see Online Forms). PLEASE NOTE: If your spam filter requires a form to be completed to allow access to e-mails from the library, you must add e-mails for the domains mail.owls.lib.wi.us and mail.nfls.lib.wi.us to your approved list. Bouncebacks from spam filters may cause your e-mail address to be deleted from your contact record.

As with other library information, the privacy of your e-mail address and communications are protected under state law (Wis. Stat. 43.30). They will never be given away, sold, or traded to a third party.
