    Campaign for Wisconsin Libraries

    Archival Storage Policy

    Posted: June 7, 2006

The joint public library will make limited storage space available to local groups and organizations in either of the villages that are historical or archival in nature. Local is defined as being a group or organization that has operated in the village of Little Chute or Kimberly only. The group or organization will be responsible for sorting through its materials to determine the appropriateness of the items to be stored.

The library director will work with the group or organization to determine the amount of space to be made available for storage.

Storage will be available on a first-come, first-served basis up to the limits of the space available in either library as determined by the library director under the direction of the library board.

Storage materials (containers, preservation supplies, etc.) must be provided at the expense of the group or organization.

Access to the materials held in storage will be provided to bona fide members of the group or organization during regular library hours under the supervision of the library's staff. Any other access must first get permission in writing from an officer of the group or organization.

In the event that the library or another department of either village needs the space, storage may be ended upon 30 days written notice to a person designated by the group or organization to receive such notice. The group or organization is responsible for keeping a name and address on file with the library as a contact. Upon written notice, the designated contact may pick up the materials within the 30-day period.

The library assumes no responsibility for damages that may occur to any of the materials being stored in its facilities.

Adopted by the Kimberly-Little Chute Public Library Board of Trustees: September 27, 2001. Viewed for currency May 2004.
