    Campaign for Wisconsin Libraries

Circulation Desk at Little ChuteCirculation Policy

    Updated: June 20, 2006

Circulation will be open to registered library cardholders. Loan rules will apply to all materials borrowed from the library as listed below. No individual or group will be permitted to permanently remove materials from the library's collection without the joint consent of the board and the director. Disputes concerning library materials will be handled as follows:

    • A dated and signed complaint form (available at either library) must be completed and submitted to the director. Failure to sign and date the form nullifies the complaint. All materials under question of reconsideration will remain in open circulation until a final decision has been made.
    • The director will review the complaint and the materials in question and will make a written recommendation to the complainant and give a report to the library board of that recommendation.
    • Appeal of the director's decision may be made to the Library Board of Trustees by submitting a notice of intent one week prior to the next regularly scheduled board meeting. An opportunity will be provided to both the complainant and the director to present the facts.
    • The President of the Library Board will appoint a committee to study the material in question and report at the next board meeting.
    • A decision must be made at the board meeting at which the committee presents its report. The decision of the Library Board with the recommendation of the director will be final. Written notification of the board's decision will be sent to the complainant.

Materials available for circulation are available for the following loan periods:

    • In-house use - television, VCR, movie screen, multimedia projector. (Note: the multimedia projector is only available to village department heads or their appointed staff member.)
    • 7 days - all audiovisual equipment, feature videos, DVDs, CD ROMs. This includes the slide projector and the overhead projector.
    • 14 days - all short loan items as determined by heavy demand, all holiday materials during the given holiday season, all magazines.
    • 28 days - all adult and children's materials except those items listed above.
    • Renewal of library materials properly checked out - may be done in person, by telephone, or by using the library's online catalog. Renewal limits are based on the format of the item to be renewed.
    • Reservation of library materials - waiting lists for library materials will be maintained on the library's database and people will be contacted in the order in which their name appears on the list; failure to pick up materials within one business week will cause the item to either be put back on the library shelves or returned to the owning library and the hold will be cancelled.
