    • INTERNET USE POLICY
    • Reservations for a computer workstation are not accepted.
    • Users may access a computer for a minimum of 1 hour with an indefinite extension of time per day if no one is waiting. If all available computers are in use, the first person with a 1 hour usage time will be required to make that computer available should someone request a computer. The person who has vacated a computer may request an additional hour of use on an as-available basis. However, people who use the computers for gaming purposes will be limited to 1 hour per day regardless of whether or not other computers are being used. If people are waiting to use a computer, gaming will be limited to 1/2 hour of use.
    • Users must have their own library card in their possession which is free of fines and other charges to use a computer.
    • Users must sign up to use a computer and will be assigned to an available machine on a first-come, first-served basis. Users must remain on the computer to which they have been assigned.
    • Priority for computer use will be given for reference and research purposes as opposed to recreational use.
    • Homework computer stations are available at each library that provide access to word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs as well as access to the library's online catalog and its resources. There is no time limit for the use of the homework stations.
    • Parents are solely responsible for the use of the computers by their own minor children.
    • Users are expected to access this resource in a legal and ethical way.
    • The library accepts no responsibility for the content found on the Internet any more than the content found in other library materials.
    • Personal computer devices may be connected to the library's wired computer stations but the library reserves the right to scan all portable devices before being connected to the computers.
    • WIRELESS USE POLICY
    • A laptop/notebook computer with 802.11b or 802.11g wireless networking will be necessary to use the library's wireless access.
    • USB devices may be used on either the wireless network or the library's PC wired network.
    • Users of the wireless network may plug their laptops into electrical outlets provided the power cords do not extend into aisles or walkways. Furniture in the library may not be moved to create more convenient access to an outlet.
    • Users must abide by the policies created by the Library Board to utilize the free service of wireless access (written copies are available in both libraries).
    • Access is unfiltered and users are cautioned that the network is not a secured environment.
    • Unacceptable use includes (but is not limited to) interference or disruption with the Internet use of others in the library; distribution of unsolicited commercial e-mail (UCE or spam); transmission of threatening, obscene, or harassing materials; propagation of computer worms, viruses or any form of malware; damage to equipment, software or programming; deletion or alteration of any existing software, programs, or data; use of the network to make unauthorized entry to other computational, information, or communication devices or resources; or illegally downloading copyright protected material.
    • Printing is not available on the wireless connection but users may save their work to disk or peripheral devices and use the wired public access computers as available to print to the library's copy machine or printer.
    • Staff reserves the right to limit the amount of bandwidth in use by any user of the wireless network and reserves the right to have a connection stopped if library policy on computer use is violated.
    • The library accepts no responsibility for damage caused to a person's laptop/notebook or peripheral devices. The library accepts no liability for injuries caused by cords plugged into the library's outlets.
    • Staff is not available to help anyone configure their laptop/notebook to be able to access the wireless network or provide technical assistance.
    • The library board reserves the right to revise the policy at any time.
