Join The Book Sayers each month at the Kimberly Public Library to discuss a variety of fiction and non-fiction selections. In March we will read  the 2017 Fox Cities Reads, Stella by Starlight by Sharon Draper. When a burning cross set by the Ku Klux Klan causes panic and fear in 1932 Bumblebee, North Carolina, fifth-grader Stella must face prejudice and find the strength to demand change in her segregated town.  Stella by Starlight gives readers of all ages the opportunity to engage with one another and explore issues of prejudice and discrimination.

As a child, Draper’s grandmother, Estelle, would sneak out of her home to write under the stars, leaving Sharon her treasured journal, which along with her own father, was the inspiration behind the book.

Draper will visit the Fox Cities on April 4th & 5th, 2017. Learn more about the book, author, and events at www.foxcitiesreads.org.
