Evening Book ClubThe book we will be discussing is Little Heathens: Hard times and high spirits on an Iowa farm during the Great Depression by Mildred Armstrong Kalish. Kalish's memoir of her Iowa childhood, set against the backdrop of the Depression, captures a vanished way of traditional living and a specific moment in American history in a story both illuminating and memorable. Master Gardener Presents: Designing with HostasMany gardeners used to "settle" for hostas as the only alternative for the shady corners of their yard. Build to the Sky!Artist Mary Tooley will present a hands-on art workshop exploring a variety of simple paper sculpture techniques and displaying pictures of some of the world’s most amazing buildings. The young artists are then challenged to see how tall a structure they can build with tagboard and other materials. It’s super-sized fun and children can take their colorful creations home.
