Evening Book ClubWe'll be discussing Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell. Set over the course of one school year in 1986, this is the story of two star-crossed misfits--smart enough to know that first love almost never lasts, but brave and desperate enough to try. When Eleanor meets Park, you'll remember your own first love--and just how hard it pulled you under. Technically classified as YA lit, the themes are so universal that anyone who survived high school will relate. May 18 - 6:30 pm Little Chute Public Library
The Book SayersWe’ll be discussing The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry by Rachel Joyce. Harold Fry--retired sales rep, beleaguered husband, passive observer of his own life--decides one morning to walk 600 miles across England to save an old friend. It might not work, mind you, but that's hardly the point. Setting off on the long journey, he is wholly, endearingly unprepared. But as he travels, Harold finally has time to reflect on his failings, and this helps him become someone we can respect. After walking for a while in Harold Fry's very human shoes, you might find that your own fit a bit better. May 21 - 1:00 pm Kimberly Public Library
