On the Waterfront
Congratulations to our kids' summer reading grand prize winners! All winners have been contacted by phone.
One of the best times of the year is here--the library's summer reading program! Keep your children's minds engaged all summer by participating in Build a Better World--an eight week program where reading at home meets awesome activities at the library. Reading throughout the summer helps prevent summer reading loss, and the library is your partner to help keep reading fun.
The kids' program is for children ages three through entering grade 5. Sign up at either location to pick up the first reading card. Cards can be turned in starting June 12 and continuing through August 4. Kids will earn entries into the grand prize drawing plus a coupon from a local business when cards 1, 3, and 5 are turned in, and a prize from the treasure box when cards 2, 4 and 6 are turned in. Card 7 earns each reader a free book, and card 8 earns either a book or toy prize plus a certificate.
To help us Build a Better World, hours of reading this summer are going to be tallied to help raise money for Habitat for Humanity. Our goal is 25,000 hours of reading, and that will enable us to give a $1,000 donation with the support of FOLKS (Friends of the Library), Vanderloop Shoes and Ecovalley Landscaping. All that extra reading builds brains and will also help repair houses next summer at Rock the Block in Kimberly and Little Chute.

Build a Better World and a better reader this summer! See you soon!
The classic picture book The Story of Ferdinand is getting the big screen treatment. The peaceful bull is voiced by WWE legend John Cena, who says, "People think he's a fighter because he's a big bull. Sound familiar?"
Basketball may be on your mind in March, but there is another kind of activity that kids can take part in: March BOOK Madness! Great books are paired against each other to see which title comes out on top. What a fun way to get kids engaged in reading! Kids can vote and help their favorite books make it to the finals. There is a picture book category, a middle grade category, and even one for teens. Check out March Book Madness to see the contenders and join in the spring reading fun!
Thanks to all who participated in our 2017 Winter Reading Program. Congratulations to our grand prize winners:
Kids, teens, and adults are invited to participate in our Winter Reading Program, Reading in a Winter Wonderland. Stop by either the Kimberly or Little Chute Library to sign up. You will receive a BINGO card with reading activities. Bring in your card whenever you have a BINGO completed, and you will receive a prize plus an entry into our grand prize drawing. You can earn up to four BINGOs, and a blackout gets you an extra entry form. What a fun way to keep the winter blues away by snuggling up with a great read on those long, cold winter nights and visiting your library for cool prizes and more fantastic books!
There are lots of things to do at the library during Winter Break. Stop in to check out some great books, movies, and music, and come to any or all of these activities:
Kids voted for their favorite book characters during October, and here are the election results:
- Preschool - Curious George
- Kindergarten-2nd Grade - Elephant and Piggie
- Third-Fifth Grade - Harry Potter
Thanks to all the kids who voted.
November is Picture Book Month, so stop by the library and check out favorites old and new to enjoy together. We also have children's books priced at 4 for $1 in our book sale.
