    Campaign for Wisconsin Libraries

    bugsSummer Library Program

    Updated: May 21, 2008

The theme for the 2008 summer library program is "Catch the Reading Bug!" The theme for the 2008 teen and adult library program is "Metamorphosis!"

    CHILDREN'S PROGRAM

The program for children ages 3 through 5th grade will offer reading opportunities, entertainment and weekly prizes for successful reading throughout the six weeks of the program. It is necessary to have a minimum age of 3 for a child's participation because of safety concerns with the prizes chosen. Some may have small parts or in other ways be a possible danger to younger children, so the library cannot allow younger children to participate. Parents are urged to decide if a selected prize is suitable for their child or children of any age as the library cannot be responsible for how a child uses the toy. All public and parochial elementary and middle schools in the Kimberly and Little Chute schools districts will have brochures delivered for each student in May. Homeschoolers or parents of homeschoolers may pick up registration materials during the month of May. Online registration [available May 1st] as well as in-person registration will begin May 1 and continue through the summer. If registering online, be sure to use the kid's & teen's form. Packets of materials may be picked up at the the library for which you registered beginning May 1.

    TEEN PROGRAM

The teen program is open to young people entering 6th grade through 12th grade. Teens may register either Online [available May 1st]or in person beginning May 1 and packets of matrials may be picked up beginning May 1. If registering online, be sure to use the kid's & teen's form. The teen program will offer various prizes geared to that age group to reward successful reading. Drawings for additional prizes will be done at the end of the summer library program in July.

    ADULT PROGRAM

The adult program is open to people age 18 and over. Drawings for a variety of prizes will be done at the completion of the program. Participants will read materials of their choosing and list the title(s) read. In addition, space will be made available for optional comments about the item(s) read. Register online or in person beginning May 1. If registering online, be sure to use the adult form. Packets of materials will be available for either online or in-person registrants beginning May 1.

The library staff is always looking for ways to improve our programs and we welcome your suggestions.
